The Heatwave Hot Sauce Expo
London, ON ~ Your taste buds are in for a thrill ride! The Heatwave Hot Sauce Expo presented by Hot Sauces Unlimited returns Saturday February 29th (Open 11am to 7pm) to Centennial Hall in London, Ontario.
This will be the third installment of Heatwave and the second time being in London. In 2019 the event drew 1,000 hot sauce lovers together for a joyous celebration of spicy food. Here’s what the experience at Heatwave is like;
When you enter the show floor at Heatwave you mingle with over 40 unique producers of spicy sauces that register on the Scoville heat index from mild to extremely freakin’ wild and from sweet to all heat. Each one having its own unique flavours that make your taste buds pop. All of the sauces can be sampled at each booth on a spoon but better yet, you can grab some chicken wings and cruise the aisles adding a dab of your favourite sauces at the show. Vegan options also available to dab that tasty hot sauce on. And it should be known that many of the sauces at Heatwave are vegan friendly too.
With hundreds of sauces available to sample and each as uniquely different as the producers that make them, it can be hard to know where to start. Thankfully every vendor will be happy to provide you with the culinary aspects of their sauce along with a free sample. Because hot sauce it not just the typical Tabasco or Franks, there is so much more created right here in Canada.
You’ll be able to sample and purchase hot sauces made from recipes with the influence of various cultures such as Caribbean, Thai, Cajun, some very Canadian and some that have been in families for generations. Sauces will contain everything from jalapenos to deadly scorpion peppers, fruits and vegetables such as sweet potatoes, mangos or blueberries. Perfected with the perfect infusion of spices like garlic, chipotle and cayenne. There is a hot sauce for everyone no matter your heat tolerance or particular taste. Enhance the flavour of just about anything you eat by adding sweet habanero maple syrup on pancakes, jalapeno strawberry jam on toast or dill pickle ketchup on your hotdog. So many ways to spice up your life at Heatwave.
Plus the entertainment is on fire on the Dawson’s Hot Sauce stage. Witness the daring chile heads compete in eating competitions with raw peppers, extreme hot wings and more.
