Take up the IPM 2020 Quilt Block Challenge

Prizes for top-three submitted blocks

KAWARTHA LAKES – It’s time to put your quilting creativity to the test with the 2020 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) Quilt Block Challenge. We want to see what you can come up with using fabrics inspired by official event colours.
We invite all quilters to take part and create a pattern of their choice, using only fabric from our prepared kits – 12-inch square of white and 10-inch squares of blue, teal, green and orange. (Fabric has been generously donated by Northcott Silk Inc.)
Following the close of submissions on Jan. 15, a committee of judges will review the quilt blocks and select the top three based on use of colour and accuracy. Prize money is up for grabs. First place will receive $100, followed by $75 and $50 for second and third place respectively.
For a full list of Quilt Block Challenge rules, visit www.plowingmatch.org/ipm2020.
Submitted quilt blocks become property of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association, parent hosts of the IPM, and used to create a quilt that will be raffled off, as well as a quilt to be given to the Ontario Queen of the Furrow.
To buy Quilt Block Challenge kits, which cost $12 each, contact Judy Brown at judybrown444@gmail.com or Doug Sturgess at doug.sturgess@hotmail.com. They can also be bought in person at the Ontario Plowmen’s Association office in Guelph (188 Nicklin Road) during business hours. Cash or Cheque (payable to Ontario Plowmen’s Association).
