~ Adventure #2, Part 9 – Beyond the Stage ~

Ontario Visit explores the magic of theater behind the scenes with the Shaw Festival’s Beyond the Stage Tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This amazing Shaw Festival tour ended, but Niagara-on-the-Lake waited!

Exit Stage Left

We followed our wonderful tour guides upstairs. They had one more “Beyond” experience they wanted to show us. In a display cabinet, at the back of the main floor, was a coat, not just any coat! It was one of the coats from the play “Just to Get Married” by Cicely Hamilton. The coat in the display cabinet was unique, because it needed to reflect “clean and dirty”!

What a great tour! If you have ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of a major play, Shaw’s “Beyond the Stage Tour” is a must. From the dressing rooms, to the stage transition area; from the making of the costumes to the rehearsal hall, the tour sheds light to what makes the Shaw Festival so interesting.

With the tour over, and the beautiful town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and the surrounding wine country waiting, we “exited stage left”.
