HCA Response to COVID-19

The health and safety of our staff, volunteers and community is a top priority for Hamilton Conservation Authority. HCA continues to monitor the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and effective tomorrow, Tuesday March 17, 2020, HCA is making the following changes to some of our operations, as many other businesses and workplaces have:

As of Tuesday, March 17, 2020 the Main Office of the Hamilton Conservation Authority will be CLOSED to the public but will continue to operate through phone and email communications. Please leave deliveries at the door.

Our conservation areas will remain accessible to the public as HCA understands the importance of access to nature for community health and well-being. As of Tuesday, March 17, 2020 all Hamilton Conservation Authority conservation areas will be accessible for passive recreation only, such as hiking, and bird-watching.

All on-site facilities (including washroom buildings, Trail Centre and gatehouses, etc.) will be closed. Campgrounds at Fifty Point and Valens Lake Conservation Area will be closed. All programs and events for the public and schools have been canceled, including the remaining days of Westfield Heritage Village’s Maple Syrup festival.

HCA will monitor developments as well as provincial and local public health recommendations and reassess by April 6, 2020 or as needed.
