With the current unknown landscape for the summer months, the Board of Directors of the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival has cancelled its in-person August Festival and College event and instead is proceeding with its second virtual festival on the same weekend.

“The well-being of our patrons, artists, vendors and host families is our foremost concern. In recognition of the current local and Provincial restrictions, we regretfully forego another in-person event. Having said that, we are enthusiastic about our second virtual Festival, which will once again be livestreamed August 6-8, 2021 with performances from artists across the globe,” said Goderich Celtic Roots Festival Board President Greg Reynolds.

The Festival is pleased to introduce a new element, which will premiere this summer at the virtual Festival. The new “Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase” will feature rising performers who will compete for online audience votes to appear on the Main Stage at the 2022 Festival.

“We look forward to shining a light on the up and coming Celtic-inspired artists around the world and inviting the top two audience favourites to come to Goderich in person to showcase their talents,” says Festival General Manager and Artistic Director Cheryl Prashker.

The virtual festival lineup is in progress and will be livestreamed again by FauxPop Media at The Staysh in Goderich, Ontario, Canada. Last year’s inaugural virtual event reached out to 20,000 viewers and was one of the first livestreamed festivals internationally.

The 2021 virtual event will also offer specially ticketed concerts and workshops by some of the most talented Celtic artists worldwide during the week leading up to the Festival.
