Autumn Tours at Lang Pioneer Village Museum

Lang, ON – As government restrictions surrounding COVID-19 continue to loosen, Lang Pioneer Village Museum is pleased to be able to announce a preliminary fall tour schedule. While many of our traditional events are unable to occur as normal, our revised seasonal offerings provide a similarly themed experience with enhanced safety precautions in order to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable and safe experience at the Village this autumn.

“Many factors will affect the Museum’s ability to ensure that the seasonal tours are able to run as planned including safety, volunteer availability and cost. For now, we are pleased to share some tentative plans – in hopes that we can all be at the Village in a way that will ensure everyone stays safe but gets to enjoy all of the history and fun the Village has to offer this fall,” says Assistant Manager Elizabeth King.

The Museum’s first seasonal tour of the fall is a guided version of the Museum’s originally scheduled Village by Lantern Light. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a tour of the Village by the soft glow of lantern lights with a costumed interpreter to light the way. This family-friendly event will provide visitors a different perspective of the historic village and pre-booked, timed entry will ensure that each family unit or group will experience a safe tour.

This fall, in place of the Museum’s very popular Applefest event, the autumn in the village experience will be turned into a drive-thru tour with Harvest Time in the Village. Visitors will time travel in their own vehicle and truly go back in time to the autumn of years gone by as they slowly drive through the Village and peek into snapshots of pioneer life at harvest time. This event is a glimpse into the Museum’s beloved Applefest demonstrations and activities as a completely hands-off and visually rich experience.

The Museum’s popular Historic All Hallows’ Eve event will also feature enhanced safety measures and will be offered this October as a themed pre booked evening guided tour. Visitors will discover the origins and traditions of Halloween during this guided tour exploring the stories behind modern-day Halloween beliefs and practices. Stay tuned to our website for another All Hallows’ Eve themed event in the works that calls on our collective imagination and creativity to exorcise our pandemic angst in a fun and safe way!

Come enjoy a safe experience this autumn at Lang Pioneer Village with one (or more!) of our seasonal tour offerings! More tours may be announced at a later date. For full event details and booking information, please visit our website at www.langpioneervillage.ca.
